The inlaws for dinner
No, I didn't cook them, but I did make dinner for them. Britgal has been selling my culinary skills to the inlaws, and they asked if they could come over and sample some. So I made chicken korma again (which was ok), and a new dish - lamb phal. Supposedly, phal is supposed to be much hotter than a vindaloo, but I found it wasn't that much hotter. The lamb turned out a really nice, as I cooked it like I did my rogan josh - in my cast iron oven. The braised meat turn out very tender and juicy. The flavour of the gravy was spot on, and it had a great deep red colour.
The lamb was a hit, the chicken was 'ok' and the naan was passable, though I did one thing right and one thing wrong. I made then much thinner than I have in the past (good), but they char'ed way too fast (bad) so I need to adjust that a little more. Ah well, live and learn. Britgal made some starter tandoori chicken and a nice fruit and angel cake desert. Overall, a hit with the inlaws - hopefully they will return.
I think the lamb has phallen now, so I must run.

The Inlaws for Dinner
It's a cookbook! It's a cookbook!
Hmm... how did you prepare Merv? Did you marinate him lightly in a dry white whine sauce or did you use a dark beer baste?
Rhona would probably be served smoked, which an assortment of jellies and breads.
