Yo quiero Taco Hell

I got to make a dinner I haven't had in quite a while - tacos! I so miss the crunch of the shells, the cold toppings and hot beef. It was devine and went down extremely well. I even went as far as to make my own guacamole which was pretty 'ok' for my first time. It was slightly zesty, with some nice avacado flavour, though I think a little less lemon and lime next time around. Overall a great dinner, with some nice left overs for lunch.

Last night, I made a nice sausage and peppers dish, on fresh linguine tossed with some pesto. It was also nice - experimenting with some new sausage types from the grocery store. The first was mediterranean and the second was chorizo. The verdict from the wife was 'hell no!' to the mediterranean, and 'ok' from the chorizo.

So to top things off last night, I wanted to make a nice desert from some fresh peaches I grabed. The idea was peach halves, in desert wine, grilled and then served with some vanilla ice cream. To ensure I got some nice grill marks, I rubbed some sugar on them. I didn't have any desert wine so I used some of my Pele Island white, which is nice but tasted way too bitter and frankly ruined the desert. The vanilla ice cream is actually vanilla gelato, which was so perfectly balanced, and creamy it was hard to belive it was more a milk product than a cream production.
