Oh, zee Germans are coming, zee Germans are coming...

Yep - dinner was German. Mmmm Frikadelle is sooo good! Commonly called 'burp burgers' by Britgal as the amount of belching that goes on during and after consumption is quite incredible. These meaty patties are mixed up with special spices, and then grilled (bbq for me) to perfection. The juicy meat is then layed upon some nice crusty cobs (buns) and served with potatoes or chips. While searching for a photo (I'm too lazy to take a picture), I discovered a very strange german shirt.

This blue shirt had a strange saying referencing Frikadelle, and I think something is lost in the translation. Though, looking at the other t-shirts on this site there are some weird tag lines plastered upon the chest of them. This shirt has the line "Die frikadelle ist rund und ein Pils dauert sieben Minuten" which roughly means "The frikadelle is round, and a beer takes seven minutes". I think it's supposed to be speaking to the quickness of the frikadelle as it's like KD kind of food. Quick, easy, cheap etc. I'm not sure what kind of frikadelle pass for good ones in the Fatherland, but over here at my house, it takes a good 1/2 hour to make them (you need to refrigerate them to allow the fat in the meat to solidify), and another 15 to cook them properly (not too much, just juicy) on the bbq. Granted these puppies are fried in a pan in most places, so perhaps I'm being too much of a snob. I suppose one could make a lot of these, and freeze them - I'll be waiting for the PC brand Frikadelle patties at the grocery store. Perhaps not - they'll never hold a candle to the homemade ones.

Today I met up with Serdic and hung out for a while, getting out of the house. Costco was a boondoggle and I should never walk in there again. Anyone who goes knows exactly what I'm talking about - that place is dangerous. I did get some risotto while I was there to try out - I hear it's hard to make. Of course being Costco, I couldn't just get one box - nooooo..... they make it a three pack. They also had a power strip (long long power bar) for $20 which I wanted, but honestly couldn't put anywhere... damn it looked sweet though.

Guess it's back to work - hang in there Serdic!
