Cat scratch fever
I think I outsmarted my cat! For the last few months, my cat Kobie has chosen that 6am shall be my time to get up and pay attention to him. Sometimes it is for food, others I swear he just enjoys torturing me. I do like my cat to sleep on the bed since he likes to cuddle sometimes, but at 6am, I'm not a happy camper. So I've gotten used to him, and I can ignore his cries for attention without much fuss. So he got wise. There are doors on a corner cabinet unit in our room, and he manages to put his paw under the door and pulls it just enough to let it go and the hinges retract, causing a loud wack. He knows he can do this over and over, and since the shelf is mostly empty, the noise is of course more irritating with the vibrations. Try water spray, kicking him out, scolding etc - nothing worked.
Well now I'm getting even. I went to Rona, and got a magnetic door latch and installed that puppy. I thought I was a genius since it will hold them shut, but will still open freely (as opposed to taping those suckers closed - or nailing them). I am concerned at the strength of the magnetic force; I'm hoping he tries, fails and then leaves it alone for ever.
Here's hoping.
Also, while there I did see that they had a rebate for programmable thermostats (well through a ministry program). $15 dollars off any thermostat - so I grabbed the Rona branded $34 dollar job (which does mostly everything except a touch screen) and got it for $20 bucks! Minto wanted $120 to 'upgrade' the thermostat to a crappier programmable one - pffft.
Out of curiosity, I checked out the conservations website to see if I could find other rebates and wow - lots! Light bulb coupons etc - all valid instantly at the cashier! Time to stock up!
