Hey Frenchie
Successful completion of Thanks Giving was done and I had the opportunity to bring my friend the Shivley one. Fun was had, much food was eaten (Thanks Mom!) and we all felt two sizes too big afterwards. Along with the succulent turkey, the sweet potatoes, the squash, the mashed potatoes, the brussel sprouts, the peas and the stuffing, I brought some french onion soup. It isn't quite the usual Thanksgiving fayre, but it was well received (though a tad sweet IMHO). I also made some french stick croutons, which is a fancy word for day old bread, dried out in the oven (with some garlic). For time reasons (and because I don't think the bowls could have been put into the oven safely), I broiled the croutons with the Gruyere cheese separately, and just placed them onto the soup. All in all, still pretty tasty, but not 100% authentic. Britgal gave the thumbs up approval on the soup, so I think I'll be making it again - just have to wait for the smell of 2kg of onions to dissipate from my kitchen.
Hope everyone had a great Thanks Giving!
Congrats to the Greek on his marriage on this rather festive weekend as well!
