Status: Heathrow Airport

So I have arrived in one piece. The flight wasn't too bad - of course everyone in my area had a baby, but I'm always prepared. Headphones are always a safe bet for any trip, and on this flight a great friend. Usually I have normal headphones, but this time I came equipped with my Shure E3c headphones which are canal/inner ear headphones. The beauty of these is that I get lots of noise reduction (ie. I can barely hear the 'woooshh' sound of the airplane) and no batteries!

The flight itself went by pretty fast - well anything compared to 20hrs in the air goes by fast!

It's about 9am local time (GMT), and I have my next flight at 2pm, so I've got some time to kill. If it's one thing the Brit's know, it's how to queue. Wow... A queue to get off the plane, one to get to the escalator to the terminal, one to get onto the transfer bus to get to the terminal, on to get up the stairs to security, one to go through security (this one was a MONSTER), and another to finally check in to get a boarding pass. I'm sure I'll squeeze in another queue somewhere (likely a a minimum to get onto the plane).

Security - wow. I though the US was bad - these guys are horrible. You cannot take more than one carry-one. Period. You got a laptop, that's it. You got a purse, that's it. If you need a purse and a carry on, you must be able to contain your purse inside your other bag, or give it up. Next up - no liquids period. No water, toothpaste, gels, sprays, deodorant, mascara, foundation, creams, soups, curries, or otherwise (I'm not making that up). You will be asked to surrender it all. Apparently this all changes on November the 6th, of course. Not by much mind you - a little liquid (100ml max) that can fit in a 20cm x 20cm plastic bag. You're still restricted to 1 bag (which I think I good, but not to the point you can't have a laptop + carry on) and very little liquid.

I'm not sure if I should sleep or stay up. I never sleep on a plane, but i still have to fly and then drive another 2 hours. Perhaps a quite kip.

I likely won't be back online until I reach my hotel, which should be about 6pm or so (German time, 12noon EST).

Good times.
